His professional activity started in Bechtel Power Corporation. Norwalk, L.A. County, Ca., 1979-1981, in the Planning, Budgeting and Cost Control Department for power plants construction.

Back in Spain, he joined FECSA, at that time, the third utility of Spain, in 1995 FECSA merged with ENDESA, the largest Utility of Spain. At the beginning, he worked at a new created department for Energy Generation Diversification Planning, where they started the analysis for new sources of energy. Later, in the same company, he took an active role in the Finance Department for the new Project Finance with US banks. Barcelona 1981-89.

From 1989,  he started his new professional venture, ENERMED, in the alternative energies field, and in the first phase of activity they accomplished the development, construction and financing of two Cogeneration Plants, one with Pastas Gallo, and one with Grupo Derivados Forestales, for a total of 50 MWs.

In 1994, created Seawest España, a joint venture with Seawest Corp. a San Diego, CA, based wind energy corporation. Later on, Tomen Power Corporation of Japan, joined the venture and together, they created, in 1996, EUROVENTO and Tripower Wind.

Early 1998, Dino J. Pionzio Jr., a former shareholder of Seawest, Tomen and Guillermo, acquired from Seawest the position they had established in Spain, and they created Terranova Energy Corp..

In 2000, Tomen Power Corp. was absorbed by EURUS, a Tokyo based company, owned 60 % by Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) and 40% by Toyota Tsusho, the trading company of the Toyota Group.

In this period of time, Terranova built more than 500 MWs of wind energy farms in Spain, 50 % owned by EURUS and 50 % by Terranova.

In 2005, Terranova merged with CESA, a Madrid based company, and together they had more than 800 MWs. (This amount does not include 50% EURUS ownership), basically in Spain, but with wind farms in Italy, 50% with ERG, the second largest oil company of Italy, and in Greece, and  wind farms development in Italy, Greece, Portugal and Hungary.

In 2006, the whole company was acquired by ACCIONA, for an amount close to €1,000 million.

Currently Guillermo holds non-executive positions as member of the Board of Directors of CLH and Mineraqua. In the past, he also had non-executive positions at Udra Industrial (Constructora San José Group), MECANOTUBO, Felguera Renovables (Grupo Duro Felguera) and GEBIOSA, a bio-diesel factory.
